ANTI-ASIAN HATE

Since the pandemic began, Anti-Asian hate crimes have increased by over 150% nationally. In New York, in particular, Anti-Asian attacks have increased by 833%. And the number of hate crimes is only increasing. To support the AAPI community, and to fight against Anti-Asian Hate Crimes, here are a few organizations you can support and things you can do

Organization: CAAAV. Based in New York, CAAAV works to build the power of low-income Asian immigrants and refugees and develops leadership so Asian communities can have a bigger impact in movements for economic and racial justice. To contribute to their cause, you can support them through donations or volunteering with them.

Organization: Stop AAPI Hate. If you see something, do something. Stop AAPI Hate is dedicated to tracking and responding to AAPI hate crimes. They also provide resources on current events in the AAPI community and have a variety of safety tips

Organization: Asian-Americans for Equality. Founded in 1974, AAFE is dedicated towards advancing social, racial, and economic justice for Asian Americans and other systematically disadvantaged communities. To support their mission, you can donate, or sign up to volunteer

Organization:Heart of Dinner. Founded at the beginning of the pandemic, Heart of Dinner aims to fight food insecurity and isolation Asian American seniors face in lower Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn. To support them and their cause, you can donate, or help out more directly by writing cards for seniors, and decorating bags that their food gets delivered in!

Resource: Hollaback!, an anti-harassment organization is partnering with Asian-Americans Advancing Justice to provide bystander intervention training to give people tools and advice on what to do if they ever witness Anti-Asian harassment.
