How many credits do I receive when I join H.O.P.E.?

Once you have completed the 200 point requirement, you receive 16 club credits. H.O.P.E. also gives out partial club credits. For example, if you were able to only complete 100 points, you receive 8 club credits instead of the full 16 credits.

How do I receive volunteer hours?

Volunteer hours are only given out through event participation outside of school. H.O.P.E.’s secretary keeps tracks of the events our members participate in and the amount of service hours they receive for it. If you only attend meetings or participate in fundraisers, you do not receive volunteer hours for them. Although you do receive points for participation, you will not be awarded volunteer hours.

How does the point system work?

H.O.P.E. provides volunteering events for our members to participate in. Through attending these events, you gain a certain amount of points, usually depending on the amount of hours the event lasts. Generally, we give out 5 points for each hour of the event. Members are also able to gain points through attending meetings, buying merchandise, and supporting our fundraisers/drives. By the end of the year, to receive the full 16 credits, H.O.P.E. requires a completion of 200 points.

When are club meetings?

Club meetings are held once every month on Wednesday but can vary depending on auditorium and cafeteria availability. The purpose of these meetings are for our members to get an idea of what H.O.P.E. is planning for the month and it gives a chance for the executives to interact with our members. Meetings generally last for 20-30 minutes in the auditorium or cafeteria.

 

What are the events like?

There are generally 4-6 events held every month. Every event is led by one of our executives. Members sign up for events through the signupgenius link that tells you all the information you need to know about the event, including the time, location, and contact information of our event leaders.

What if I am unable to to attend the meeting or event I signed up for?

If you are unable to attend the event, you have to fill out the absence form located on our website. However, if you do not complete this form at least 24 hours before the event takes place, there will be a point penalty.
